Rooms – Lodge

“Away from the cities and towns, amidst the green of the pastures and of the broadleaf woodlands, at an altitude of 1,100 metres, lies Drego, what once used to be an alpine pasture area that we are challenging ourselves to give a second life to. We worked hard to recover the abandoned shepherds’ huts and transform them in a lodge for those, like us, who are seeking to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature.

The accommodation includes three independent rooms, each with en suite bathroom with shower, bidet and hot waterand a common lounge area for breakfast and dinner. During the warm season it is possible to make use of outdoor tables under the shade of the trees. It is similar to an alpine mountain lodge, surrounded by wilderness and lacking urban infrastructures and services that are reachable only by car.

With no power stations and electricity supplies, the property utilizes exclusively renewable energy sourced on place, thanks to the sun and the installed solar panels. Illumination is therefore guaranteed together with the possibility to charge mobile phones and use a small low consuming hairdryer, available in each room. It is not possible to use any other type of domestic appliances bought from home.

Linen and towels are provided to all guests. In order to limit the environmental impact of towel washing we invite our guests to use only the necessary: thanks to this attention we are able to limit the use of water, detergents and energy. Drinkable water is sourced from a small spring and must be used consciously in order to avoid using up the supply available in the storage tanks.

Hygiene and cleanliness are always our priority but please bear in mind that we do not use either pesticides nor chemical substances to disinfect. Being out in the wilderness the companionship of animals is normal and must be tolerated or better, enjoyed, as a synonym of environmental quality!

The road to reach Drego (click here to open on the map) is a typical paved mountain road with a series of sharp bends, hairpin turns and potholes offering a stunning scenery and landscape. The parking space is located on the side of the road and to reach the rooms guests must walk down a relatively steep path for approximately 50m (high heels and flip flops are discouraged!)

Our restaurant located in Agaggio Inferiore (open only on weekends) is reachable by car (20 minutes); the closest village is Andagna, about 4 km away but offers no urban services whereas 7km away there is the small town of Molini di Triora that offers a grocery store, bar, restaurant, ATM, postal service, fuel station and others.

In summer, during the week, we are often engaged in activities close to the accommodation facilities, busy with farmland work such as cutting and bailing hay and taking care of the animals, previously brought up to Drego during the transhumance to graze on the nearby pastures that surround the lodge. Work permitting, we love to get to know our guests and entertain them. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee beforehand our fixed presence therefore it is recommended that guests are able to adapt themselves and be self-sufficient in a similar context. For emergencies we are always reachable, and should you stay for a couple of days we will definitely have the chance to meet in person!

During the winter, the rooms are heated with the wood burning stoves available in the Camoscio and Marmotta rooms and in the shared kitchen. The latter heats up also the radiators in the Lupo room located just above. Prior to the arrival of our guests, we make sure to light up the stoves and prepare a cosyand welcoming environment. Once arrived the guests are free to decide whether to keep the fire going or let it burn out, according to their own needs (the wood logs are piled outside the rooms, easily accessible).

On weekends, during the opening season of the restaurant in Agaggio, you will find us there, busy preparing the meals.
